And so I put out some flats, and I immediately realized it looked terrible:

And so I completely redid all the colours. Fittingly enough, I was travelling by bus at night, observing how the sky against the hills looked, and though I did absolutely not cover it very nicely, I did better this time, removing both detail and making it darker. I did save the flats for the necromancer, but I recoloured it.

I added some more details, namely the metallic parts and the armour. The green highlights on the face looked terrible though and I redid it several times. I'm still not happy with it.

And BAM! Lots of small detail! The trees, the kettle, the clouds and the moon. And fire, gotta have some fire. And the green stuff in the pot. I cheated a bit with the kettle; I used the ellipse tool and the filed in the blanks, and added shadow hurr durr. Looks much nicer.

And so I now take a break after just starting with the bone-fiend. Enjoy him looking like an ugly floating worm. Or large intestine.

With all this light, I am taking water WAY over my head. Now when I'm looking at it, I could probably have had so much light from the kettle and fire that it rendered the background invisible and useless.

I do intend to finnish this one, but I have now a more halloweenish image in my head, and I would like to realize it too.

We'll see what I do. Cheers!

So I did a quick draft of the base of the idea I have in my head. I just doodled it up with a blue colour pencil and scanned it.

Now you can't tell much from the draft, so I did an over-sketch, adding more detail and such to give a better image of what I'm going to draw.

I'm working with a rather small image, as I intend to thumbnail it later.

My thoughts on the composition is that it is rather cluttery and feel a bit crammed. But I intend to go on with it. Possibly adding some of the halloween items around the pot. Thank heavens for sketches, and that you can paint them over. I do realize that there's a ton of perspective issues and the magic rune stuffie are quite terrible, but I just  put them there for show for now, indicating that I will have something pretty there later.

So, Imma post this on the forum and see what response I get.
This is supposed to be my progress-diary for the Halloween workshop at Guild Wars Guru.

Although I am yet to finally decide upon what to make, I will post what I will work with in the meantime.

Cheers!
